Web Site Contact Forms and Content Management Systems
A recent meeting with leisure services client brought up an issue that is, in fact, pretty common. Many web sites have a contact us form (web site contact form) and usually the data put into that form is stored in a Content Management System or CMS
Our client was not alone in failing to realise that there was a data store and did not know what to do with it.
The obvious solution was to delete it, but this would of course mean that it could not be used to reach out to the individuals who had contacted our client and maybe convert them into customers.
Luckily as part of our Fixed Price GDPR Audit we spotted the issue and were able to help.
By looking at the data, how it was obtained and the grounds on which it could be used we were able to help and with the assistance of our friends at Global River web design we were able to;
- make the existing data GDPR compliant,
- amend the form to ensure all new information was compliant
- formulate and prepare an E newsletter to go out to the contacts
As a result of our work the client saw a massive increase in mid week bookings for this year and left them needing to expand their service for 2019.
