Adoption option for families in Cheshire

Adoption option for families in Cheshire has been the focus of the Queens speech to open Parliament in 2016. The Government has published a paper already that sets out the benefits for vulnerable children of a quicker adoption process with a clear statement of the aims of the policy set out by the Chancellor Michael Gove Adoption option for families in CheshireΒ

Specialist family solicitors in Northwich Cheshire Stonehewer Moss can advise a family looking to the option of adoption if there are reasons that it seems a positive stop for the family in the future. Michael Brennan, a family law solicitor and Resolution accredited specialist in private child arrangements, can see the benefits of the new quicker approach from first principles. Michael says, “The Children Act 1989 has always had a principle that delay is not beneficial to the welfare of a child and the approach set out in this PDF is in keeping with that requirement, which perhaps has not happened in practice after the Court has fallen out of the picture at the close of care and adoption proceedings; I do not practice care work but sat the Children Panel course in 2014 and still remember the desperate sadness of a website for children with some trouble or other who could not find an adoption family. If the Court has thoroughly investigated the welfare needs of a child and concluded adoption is best, a speedy transition to placement inΒ  a family must be good for most children. The only caution I would posit is whether an over hasty process will result in an increase in failed placements. Clearly a family looking to adopt must be prepared for the full range of troubles vulnerable children may bring with them and hopefully will be appropriately supported through the process.”

The first part of call if thinking of adoption should be the Local Authority close to you or another registered adoption agency. Parents threatened with adoption of their children need specialist help from a Children Panel solicitor that can be searched through the Law Society or Resolution websites.
