We don’t do conveyancing, family law isn’t our thing and if you’ve just been arrested it’s also likely you’ll need to speak to another law firm.

Employment Tribunals

What is an Employment Tribunal?

Employment Tribunals deal with legal disputes relating to your employment. They are less formal than other courts, but you give evidence under oath or affirmation. If you lie in this court you can be convicted of perjury.

It may be possible to resolve your problem another way – perhaps by talking to your employer - before applying to an Employment Tribunal. If this doesn’t work, you should check if you are entitled to make an Employment Tribunal claim.

Cases are usually heard by a panel of three, referred to as a Tribunal. It consists of a legally qualified Employment Judge, and two 'lay members' that represent the employee and the employer. The lay members use their own employment experience to assess the situation and to balance the proceedings.

It is important to know exactly what your position is and you may choose to have expert legal advice. Stonehewer Moss Solicitors are experienced in this area and can advise you of your rights and position.
